Puyallup, WA – March 9, 2009 – Two powerhouse Christian performers are slated to take the stage of the 2009 Puyallup Fair - Third Day and TobyMac. Multi-platinum selling rockers Third Day have an armload of awards to their name, and are known for hit songs, “Born Again,” “This is Who I Am,” and “Call My Name.” Dove Award “Artist of the Year” recipient and multi-award winner, TobyMac is enjoying a successful second music career, with hit songs “Made to Love,” “Lose My Soul,” and “Gone.”

The Third Day / TobyMac concert on Saturday, Sept. 26, 7:30 p.m, is part of Columbia Bank’s Puyallup Fair Concert Series. Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 14 at noon at Ticketmaster. Ticket prices are $20 / $30 / $45 / and $50 for Golden Circle, and include Fair gate admission, and seats are reserved.

Award-winning Christian rock band, Third Day, continues to garner a tremendous fan base since their start in 1991. They have earned six gold albums, three Grammy Awards, and 24 GMA Dove Awards, and recently celebrated receiving their first American Music Award in the “Favorite Artist in the Contemporary Inspirational” category, and received nominations for the upcoming 2009 Dove Awards. Billboard magazine described Third Day as, “not only one of the best Christian bands of the ‘90s but one of the best rock bands, period.”

The Georgia-based band’s twelve albums have included modern rock, techno sounds, Southern rock, and praise and worship music. Of the latter, two albums, Offerings and Offerings II went platinum and gold, respectively. Third Day’s latest album, Revelation, was released in July 2008, and the songs explore the complexities of living out one’s faith in today’s world.

Third Day’s array of hits has been definitive in designing the sound of Christian radio for over a decade, while receiving 25 No. 1 singles and selling more than six million albums. A sampling of hits from one of today’s most popular Christian rock groups includes, “Born Again,” “Cry Out to Jesus,” “Come Together,” “My Hope Is You,” “I’ve Always Loved You,” and “You Are So Good To Me.”

Band members include Mac Powell (vocalist), Mark Lee (acoustic guitar), David Carr (drummer), and Tai Anderson (bassist). Maintaining a passion for helping those in need, Third Day is involved in several humanitarian organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, DATA and World Vision’s Hope Child. TobyMac is no stranger to success in the Christian music world. In addition to being one of three founding members of popular group, DC Talk, the artist received his latest Grammy Award for “Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album” for his newest project, Alive & Transported, a CD+DVD combination, as well as being selected GMA Dove Awards’ “Artist of the Year.” Since he started his solo career, he has two gold albums, six No. 1 singles, 10 GMA Dove Awards, a Grammy, and widespread critical acclaim.

With over eight million career scans, album Portable Sounds was certified gold by the RIAA, and has the distinction of having the highest solo debut ever on the Billboard Top 200 chart, debuting at No. 10. It also hit No. 1 on SoundScan’s “Contemporary Christian Overall” chart in its first week.

TobyMac has realized a successful solo career with the release of three studio albums; Momentum (2001), Welcome to Diverse City (2004), and Portable Sounds (2007), plus Alive and Transported, a CD / DVD recorded live and released in 2008. He also has two remixed versions of his first two albums, titled Re:Mix Momentum, and Renovating Diverse City. His music video, “Lose My Soul” premiered in late February on Amazon.com, and will be available on iTunes on March 17.

Kevin Michael “Toby” McKeehan was born and raised in Virginia. His older brother nicknamed him Toby since he was born in October. While attending Liberty University at Lynchburg, VA in the mid-1980s, he met Michael Tait and Kevin Max Smith, and the three friends formed the highly influential Christian pop group, DC Talk, which mixed elements of gospel, grunge and hip hop into an immensely successful hybrid. He stayed with the band throughout its run, from 1989 – 2000, winning four Grammy Awards during that time.

Tickets will also go on sale for other artists in the Puyallup Fair’s 2009 Columbia Bank Concert Series line-up in the coming months.
