Puyallup, WA – May 29, 2007 – The name Kellie Pickler first became popular over the office water cooler from her performances on the fifth season of the ever-popular American Idol. Since that time she has criss-crossed the country with the American Idols Live! Tour in 2006, and the release of her debut album, Small Town Girl, with hit songs “Red High Heels,” “I Wonder,” and “My Angel,” and opening for Brad Paisley in his Bonfires & Amplifiers Tour.
Pickler will open for country music legend Clint Black at the Puyallup Fair’s 2007 Columbia Bank Concert Series on Tuesday, September 17. Tickets are already available at Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone. Reserved ticket prices for the 7:30 p.m. concert are $29.50 - $49.50, and include gate admission ($10 value) to the Fair.
Kellie Pickler was born in a small town in North Carolina, and spent the majority of her growing up years living with her grandparents, Faye and Clyde Pickler, Sr. In no time at all, her grandmother became the one person Kellie could count on. In her sophomore year she lost her beloved grandmother. She was living with grandfather Clyde where she entered a local beauty pageant, hoping to find a way to win scholarship money to continue her education after high school. She sang “Broken Wing” in the talent portion, clinching the pageant. After hearing about the American Idol auditions in Greensboro, North Carolina, Kellie and her grandfather headed off for an adventure of a lifetime. She went through three rounds before setting eyes on Paula, Randy and Simon. Kellie’s vibrant vocals, boundless energy, bubbly personality and refreshing honesty won over the judges and the viewers, finally bringing her to the top six before being voted off American Idol. With songwriter Aimee Mayo, Pickler co-wrote five of her debut album’s songs, including the title cut and the first single, “Red High Heels.” Her two most poignant and deeply personal songs are “I Wonder” and “My Angel,” written about her mother, and her beloved grandmother. Last April she received a standing ovation at the Grand Ole Opry for her performance of “I Wonder.” For further information, visit www.kelliepickler.com. |
