There
is do doubt that fair time is fun time, even in the rain. But the
price for having fun, and performing death-defying tricks, is definitely
going up. Here are three examples:
 |
The
Mountain Dew© Extreme
Scream (left) is, by
far, one of the most popular of the 2003 Fair rides.
This 20-story high ride rockets 12 people up a tower pushing 3 G's
and then thrusts them back down at a negative 1 G. It's the only
ride of it's kind in the Pacific Northwest and the tallest structure
in Puyallup.
Price: $10
Ride lasts 30 seconds. |
The Big Sling (right) gives thrill
seekers their daily dose of adrenaline as they are propelled up to
275 feet
in the air - all
while safely strapped into the ride capsule, of course. The tallest
portable ride in the world, the Big Sling measures in at an astounding
180 feet.
Price: $30
Ride lasts 30 seconds. |

Forget
about being strapped in. Forget about bungee cords. Forget about
your heart pumping.
The SCAD Dive (left)
is labeled as the "hottest new X-treme ride in the world." It offers the brave
souls who board it a pure, unadulterated 90-foot free fall. While
fully secured in a safety harness, guests plummet toward earth
like rocks, only to land in a specially engineered double net that
provides a softly coushioned landing.
Price: $40
Ride lasts 3 seconds. |
There you go, $80 in one minute and three seconds. Is it worth it? That's
for you to decide.
